In the spring of 2011, the Hansberger family generously donated Alpine Hills Golf Course to the Rockford Park District Foundation. The 52-acre facility is scheduled to be re-opened in 2014 as a facility offering year-round activities for all ages. The project will include development of the golf course, winter and summer activities, restrooms, and a warming/concession area building. It will also include landscaping of natural plantings, a walking path, and lighting. The estimated total cost of the project is $2.5 million.
